Israel Trip Day 2 - March 13, 2018
TMS GOES TO ISRAEL!
MARCH 13, 2018 -- DAY 2
We started off in the old city of Jaffa and walked to the top of the overlook for an introduction to Tel Aviv and Jaffa. We learned that while Jaffa was the original port to Tel Aviv, it has Jewish, Christian, and Ancient Roman Greek history. We walked the streets and visited the flea market and old port.
Bus broke down, schedule changed a bit.
We visited the Carmel market.
Then visit to Ayalon institute. It was a clandestine munitions factory use during the British mandate.it was disguised as a kibbutz.
Then a visit to Independence Hall where David Ben-Gurion proclaimed the state of Israel on May 14, 1948.
The visit to Independence Hall was amazing, as Israel became a state in the very room where we were sitting! And we wrapped up the visit there by standing for the Israeli national anthem! Very moving bringing tears to my eyes. And I was seated just 3 chairs from where David Ben Gurion pronounce Israel a state and from where Golda Meir sat! Those of you who didn't join us on this trip really missed out. I would go again---if someone paid my way!! The trip was worth every penny!
