Shabbaton Weekend with Rabbi Regina Sandler-Phillips

ACCOMPANYING EACH OTHER:

Rabbi Regina Sandler-Phillips

FROM CARING COMMUNITY TO SACRED FELLOWSHIP

A Shabbaton with Rabbi Regina Sandler-Phillips

October 26-28, 2018

We are taught that the world stands on a tripod of study, worship, and caring actions. When our Jewish communities run on the two legs of study and worship, the third leg of caring is often shortened. Yet this third leg is the only one that can support us reliably “on one foot.” How can we show up and accompany each other through the full range of life transitions—while keeping our own balance? Join Rabbi Regina Sandler-Phillips as we discover a renewed equilibrium that integrates kindness and justice for these challenging times. Rabbi Regina will weave together classical texts, music and discussion to address themes of what it means to create caring community at different moments of the life cycle.

Friday, October 26:

Kabbalat Shabbat Services, 6:15 pm: “Accompanying Each Other: Lifelong Levayah” - How principles derived from this week's Torah portion can guide us through life's challenges—especially our ultimate ones

Shabbat Dinner, 7:30 pm: “Three Legs or One Foot? Balancing Jewish Community” - Discovering a renewed community equilibrium that integrates kindness and justice Reservations:  $15/Adults;  $5/child ages 6 - 12;  children 5 and under are free

12:15 – 1:15: From Zombies to Ultimate Kindness: A Pre-Halloween Workshop for Teens - How fascination with the “undead” can be connected to a helpful showing up for the actual dead—as well as for the living
